Rogers Ultra-matic Bi-directional Tom/Bass Mounting Bracket

I'm still amazed that the new Rogers drums hardware fits the vintage drums. Works perfectly on my 67 Rogers Delta

I really like this Bi-Direciton Tom/Bass mounting bracket. I used them for the Ride Tom and use them also for the Floor Tom bracket.

The Rogers floor tom leg bracket fit my 1966 tom. That’s the good news.

The bad news is the leg can not be rotated in the bracket so the foot of the leg is aligned close to the drum shell for packing in the drum bag.

The original mounting bracket has 2 screws that loosen and tighten the outer piece of the bracket to clamp the leg. It’s easy to loosen the 2 screws with drum key, rotate the leg so the bottom of the leg is perfectly next to the drum shell, and easy to slip the drum bag over the drum and 3 legs attached.

Now I’ll have to pack one leg in the trap case (the other 2 legs always sit in their original brackets) and slide the leg into the new bracket when assembling my kit, another task to add to the usual lengthy set-up.

Whoever designed the new bracket never considered ease of packing the drum and legs. BTW, I’m also an industrial designer and mechanical engineer (designed and engineered 200+ products) and was surprised to see 2 different sizes of screws, same threads but different heads, for a total of 4 screws. Not efficient design.

Great doing business
